Application Process

We are changing our application process slightly this year.  PLEASE READ carefully.

The first step is to fill in an application form.  This is available online this year, and must be completed by everyone who is helping at camp.  Once we review your application, we will contact you regarding an interview.  We would like to take a few minutes to get to know you a bit better, to determine if HOTM is a good fit for you this summer, and if so, to understand where you might be best suited to help out.

Providing that you are accepted onto staff, the next step is to provide us with a current criminal record check (if you are 16 or over) and to do the online Plan to Protect training.

If you do not feel comfortable that you would know how to share the gospel with a child, we strongly encourage you to attend a Bible study to help you prepare for this.  There are two such studies taking place at Shoreline Baptist Church this spring.

  • Soul - This is a seven week series specifically designed for youth in which we will be studying the life of Jesus in the gospel of Mark.  This study will help to prepare you to answer kids' questions about who Jesus is and why he came to earth - the heart of the gospel.  It will be taking place on Thursday evenings, as part of the regular youth program, from May 3 - June 14 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m.

  • Two Ways to Live - This is an 8 week series for youth and adults.  Participants will learn a specific method for sharing the gospel.  This is the way the gospel message will be presented to campers during the second week of camp.  This will be taking place on Sunday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. from April 15 - June 10 (not including the long weekend).  Childcare will be provided for children aged 4-12.

All staff are required to attend the training session on the Sunday prior to the week of camp that they are assisting with (Sunday, July 1st and/or Sunday, July 8th - 2-5pm).  Job assignments will be given out at that time along with job descriptions.  If you are volunteering for a position that requires preparation prior to camp, we will contact you with details sooner.

Thanks so much for your interest, and we hope to see you at camp!  If you have any questions about volunteering, please contact us.
